Works on
ANY timeframe, daily included; a daily strategy decides from the last completed daily
bar (yesterday's).

``open`` takes an offset of zero or more and ``close`` an offset of zero or less
(negative is before the anchor): the opposite signs fall outside every session and are
refused when written. It needs a market with a session, so it is refused for crypto
(24/7), which has no open or close; use ``at_time`` there. If either side has no value on
a bar the result has no value and the armed state does not change. Position events never
reset it, only firing does, and two identical latches share one state.

This is the form of "price re-enters the band after leaving it" (``arm`` = outside,
``fire`` = inside) and of a rising edge (``arm`` = not(c), ``fire`` = c). Under a
scheduled rule only the outcome of the frame bar's close is seen: a fire on an earlier
bar is consumed on that bar and is not seen at the next occurrence, so a latch fire
between two occurrences is lost while an armed latch stays armed.

Both children are ordinary conditions or ``condition_ref``s. Two bounds are what make this its own type rather than another
``compare`` operator.

Per-bound inclusivity is not decoration. ``[30, 70)`` — enter when RSI is at
or above 30 but strictly below 70 — cannot be said with one shared flag, and
the two interval tests already inside the runtime disagree: a band's
``inside`` level is strictly exclusive on both edges, a zone membership test
is inclusive on both. Both are expressible here.

Semantics:
  - Bounds are resolved every bar, so they may be moving series (a band
    edge, a moving average) as well as literals.
  - If ``subject``, ``low`` or ``high`` has no value (indicator warmup,
    undefined prior bar) the condition is unknown and takes no action --
    the same rule ``compare`` uses, so ``not(range)`` does not fire either.
  - Literal bounds are checked at construction: ``low`` above ``high``, or
    ``low`` equal to ``high`` with either bound exclusive, is an empty
    interval that could never fire, and is refused rather than shipped as a
    zero-trade strategy.

Examples:
    RSI in the mid-band, high end excluded (``[30, 70)``):
        {"kind": "range", "subject": {...rsi ref...}, "low": 30, "high": 70,
         "low_inclusive": true, "high_inclusive": false}

    Close inside a Bollinger band, both edges excluded:
        {"kind": "range", "subject": {...close...},
         "low": {...bollinger lower...}, "high": {...bollinger upper...},
         "low_inclusive": false, "high_inclusive": false}

For a one-sided threshold use ``compare``; for membership in a discrete set
use ``in_set``; to fire once on entering the interval rather than on every
bar inside it, wrap this in ``transition`` semantics via ``cross`` on the
bound you care about.",

Indicators with their own
  NaN-compacting buffers — ``srsi_k``, ``stochastic_k`` — do NOT behave
  this way, which is why they are not redundant with this ref.",

Second, the lookback here is the last ``period``
**finite** RSI samples — undefined RSI bars are skipped rather than
admitted to the window — so it survives flat stretches where the generic
composition propagates NaN.
Running highest or lowest value of ``source`` since the start of the run or since entry.

``extreme`` chooses the maximum or the minimum and ``since`` the starting point.
With ``since: "start"`` (the default) it updates at the end of every bar, warm-up
included, so a rule deciding at the close of bar t sees the extreme through bar t-1; a
scheduled rule sees its frame bar included. With ``since: "entry"`` it is unset while
flat, resets when a position opens from flat (not on a scale-in or a partial exit; a
reversal opens from flat) and updates before decisions on each bar while invested, so a
rule sees the extreme through the current bar. Absent values of ``source`` are skipped,
and an unset value makes a comparison over it unknown. It keeps its state across a
paper session's restarts. ``since: "entry"`` is refused in a signal scan, as every
operation on the open position is.

Known gaps it inherits: a raw trailing ratchet built from it does not reset after it
fires, ``since: "entry"`` folds in the whole bar of a mid-bar scheduled fill, and the
reset runs only for the entry rule that filled. A ``since: "entry"`` value is refused
anywhere inside a gate: a gate is evaluated while flat as well as invested, so a value
that resets at entry cannot be kept correct there. Use ``since: "start"``, or put the
condition on an exit. It returns the unit of ``source``.

Example, the highest high since entry, to place a trailing exit under:
  {"kind": "tracked", "source": {"kind": "price", "field": "high"}, "extreme": "max",
   "since": "entry"}
compared with ``close`` using ``<``.",
